Sarin K CPROJECT ASSOCIATESarin is from Nepal and joined HITAP as a Project Associate in April 2019. He graduated with a BSc. in Economics from the University of York in the summer of 2016. Then he went back to Nepal where he worked as an Analyst at the Ministry of Health and Population working on producing the National Health Accounts. He then went to purse MSc in International Health Policy (Health Economics) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and graduated in 2018. His primary interest lies in adavancing the use and institutionalisation of HTA in low and middle income countries. He currently leads projects in India and Singapore.

Christopher Matthew Neil PainterOVERSEAS DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE FELLOWChris is from the United Kingdom and joined the HITAP International Unit (HIU) in November 2019 through the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) Fellowship Scheme. Prior to joining HIU, Chris spent 3 years in the United Kingdom working as a health economist where constructed a range of cost-effectiveness, budget impact and disease transmission models. He has developed clinical knowledge and modelling experience for a wide range of infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Chris has a strong clinical and policy understanding of HIV, hepatitis C virus and measles care. He also has significant experience of building health economics models for NCDs, including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and a variety of cancer conditions.
Chris is keenly aware of health technology assessment (HTA) processes and developments in low-, middle- and high-income settings. Whilst at HIU, Chris has been focussed on furthering his understanding of vaccine access issues in low- and middle-income settings and participating in HIU’s capacity building and technical assistance activities.
Aparna AnanthakrishnanOverseas Development Institute FellowAparna Ananthakrishnan is an Overseas Development Institute (ODI) Fellow at the HITAP international unit. Prior to joining HITAP, Aparna assisted with epidemiological research on neglected tropical diseases and developed knowledge sharing systems for improved multi-country program implementation within the Deworm the World Initiative at Evidence Action, in Washington DC. Drawing on her inter-disciplinary graduate specializations in both public health and international development, from LSHTM and UCL, Aparna has previously designed and implemented policy and program interventions to address health inequalities in marginalized communities in southern India. Under this umbrella, her focus has been on improving access and affordability of reproductive health services, safe maternal health, designing healthy cities to beat non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and using digital technologies to achieve universal health coverage (UHC). With HITAP, Aparna has been primarily involved in technical assistance and capacity building in the Philippines, as well as pursuing a review on the economics and policy landscape for prevention of anti-microbial resistance in lower-middle income countries.
Rachel ArcherProject AssociateRachel is from the UK and joined HITAP as a Project Associate in March 2018. She studied her undergraduate in International Development at the University of Leeds, UK, and then went on to pursue a masters in Public Health and International Development at the University of Sheffield, UK. Whilst studying for my degrees, she interned for various non-profit organisations across East and West Africa including a sexual health charity called Theatre for a Change, Ghana and a community based organisation called Our Roots Kenya. Her work included performing monitor and evaluation, writing tender documents and managing communications. Her research interests lie in reproductive health in low income countries. For her Masters thesis, she collaborated with the non-profit Shanti Uganda to investigate the trend towards teenage pregnancy in Luwero District, Uganda, through an intersectional framework.
Alia Cynthia Gonzales LuzProject AssociateAlia works as a Project Associate with the management and research team of HITAP’s International Unit (HIU). She provides technical support in international and local economic evaluation projects as well as administrative coordination for the organization’s regional and country projects. Her portfolio of work includes management of HIU projects in the Philippines as well as the Guide to Economic Analysis and Research (GEAR) online resource. In 2018, she received her Masters of Science (MSc) in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing (HPPF) from both the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the London School of Economics (LSE). Alia graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2013 with a degree in economics. Post-graduation, she worked in Liberia on renewable energy economics for a USAID-funded project before joining HITAP.
Saudamini DabakHead of International UnitSaudamini Dabak is an ODI fellow with the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program. She has had 2 years of experience working in the banking industry with Standard Chartered Bank, has shifted to the development industry as a project manager with the Adakllu Ablornu Development Committe and has later on gained a consultancy in the World Bank.
Her experiences and strong work ethic have enabled her to contribute to furthering the work of HITAP internationally. Her knowledge and ability to work under different settings gives her a unique perspective in approaching HTA and it’s institutionalization.
Manushi SharmaINTERNATIONAL COORPERATION OFFICERManushi is a graduate in pharmacy and went ahead to pursue her Masters in business administration (MBA) with specialization in operations management. After completing a postgraduate diploma in Health Economics, Financing & Policy she worked with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) for 2 years on the project “Strengthening Evidence-base for Sustainable Health Financing Models in India” in the areas of Health Financing and Access to Medicine.
As a Project Associate with HIU she works with both the research and the management team.
